The Weathercock is adjacent to the Dales Way and River Lune, one mile from Sedbergh. The lower slopes of the Howgills are half a mile from the front door. The views towards them are stunning, second only to the rewarding views from them if you walk up there! Lake Windermere is 21 miles away. The cottage is in the part of Cumbria that is also within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Dent Village with its cobbled streets is 7 miles away, and one of the most scenic drives in the North of England, Barbondale, joins Dent to Kirkby Lonsdale, a charming Georgian market town 10 miles south of Weathercock via the Lune Valley. This makes a fabulous circular drive/cycle.
The most stunning of the local walks are nearby: Cautley Spout, Black Force, Firbank Fell and Fox’s Pulpit, Uldale Falls, Winder and Arrant Haw.
